Territory answers one question: which stores are this person's? It governs both halves of their experience — what appears on their dashboard, and which alerts reach their phone.
- By region — everything in one or more regions, including stores added later.
- By market — same, along the market axis.
- By store — an explicit list, for people whose responsibility doesn't follow the structure.
- Everything — no territory limit, for executives and administrators. This comes from the role's "see everything" capability.
Prefer regions and markets over lists of stores. A territory stated as a group stays correct as the estate changes; a list of stores is out of date the day a store opens.
If someone says units are missing from their dashboard, territory is almost always the answer — and a device that hasn't been assigned to a store yet is the other. An unassigned device belongs to no territory, so a scoped person cannot see it at all.
