Pairing a Wi-Fi unit

Create the unit in the dashboard, get an 8-character code, then join the unit's temporary setup network and enter your Wi-Fi details plus the code.

  1. Add the unit in the dashboard. You'll be given an 8-character pairing code.
  2. Plug the unit in and wait for its setup screen.
  3. On a phone, join the Wi-Fi network the unit is broadcasting.
  4. The setup page opens by itself. Enter the store's normal Wi-Fi details and the pairing code.
  5. The unit joins the network, claims its identity with the code, and appears on the dashboard within a minute or two.
A pairing code is valid for 15 minutes and works once. That's short on purpose — a code sitting in an email for a month is a way for the wrong device to join your account. If it expires, generate another from the unit's page; there's no limit and no penalty.

Codes deliberately exclude characters that are easy to misread — no letter O, no digit 1 — because they get read aloud over a phone from a hot kitchen. Case doesn't matter.

If a unit you already own has dropped off, don't add it as new — that starts a second history for the same hardware. Open its existing page and generate a re-pair code instead.
